Design Institute of Australia (DIA)
The Design Institute of Australia is the voice of professional design in Australia, as well as a professional membership body for designers.
Membership in the DIA indicates a designer’s status as a qualified, experienced, ethical practicing professional and provides designers with support, networking, services and information to improve their professional practice. It provides a wealth of contacts, and connects designers with colleagues from many industry areas.
Building Designers Association of Victoria
The Building Designers Association of Victoria Incorporated (BDAV) is an industry association, which represents building design and drafting professionals. Founded in 1983, the BDAV is a non-profit organisation registered under the Victorian Associations Incorporation Act to promote and advance the profession of building design.
Registered Building Practitioner
Hunter and Richards are Registered Building Practitioners in Victoria. Registered building contractors are required to carry insurance to protect you as a consumer. It is the law for building works in excess of $5000, in accordance with the Building Act 1983. Always ask your building contractor for their building registration number. If they are not registered, they are more than likely not qualified to carry out the proposed work, meaning their work will be uninsurable.
